The 60’s/70’s trend came and left a few seasons ago and i couldn’t indulge in it at the time as I couldn’t really find any garments that were ‘me’ that i felt portrayed the trend accurately. When i recently came across this Tie Neck Dress from the partywear collection at Simply Be, I knew I had to have it.
Not only is the dress versatile in that in can be worn for multiple occasions, but the print is absolutely gorgeous. At first glance, I thought it was actually Paisley but it’s actually an intricate floral pattern. The colour scheme is heavily influenced by the 60’s and the tie nick also acts as a subtle nod to the era.
We actually took these photos while on the way to an old textile mill in Croydon, as lately i’ve been really into the history of fashion, pattern cutting and textiles. Frankly it’s abysmal that i still haven’t been to the V&A Museum as of yet, but at some point I’d love to visit as many exhibits as possible as I’ve been toying with the idea of going back to school to study fashion. The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh have just opened a permanent Fashion & Style Gallery which will be housing iconic pieces such as Vivienne Westwood and House of Pringle just to name a few and it’s a place i would absolutely LOVE to visit one day. If anyone in particular happens to be going today, please let me know how you found it! 🙂 🙂
