A couple of months ago, I introduced Trilogy Skincare to the blog via my Hydrating Mist Toner post where I raved about how much the product has changed my life this summer! Since then, I have gone on to try a couple more of their products and today I’ll be sharing with you my findings after using them exclusively for about 6 weeks or so.
As some of you may know, I’m a bit of a natural/organic skincare fan as I have quite sensitive (combination) skin and I’m always on the hunt to test and try new natural products. Trilogy launched their skincare range in 2002 in a bid to bridge the gap between ‘high science’ synthetic skincare and natural skincare, which lead to the brand creating their flagship product, the Organic Rosehip Oil. The products are not tested on animals and are created from ‘unique blends of natural plant oils and botanical extracts which work to restore and maintain the natural vitality and radiance of the skin’.
Balancing Face Lotion (£26.50 || 100ml)
Because I have combination skin, I’ve always been more akin to using oils and butters to help moisturise the drier areas of my face so I was excited to see what this lotion could offer as it is meant for those with oily and combo skin. I’ll first start off by saying that I absolutely love the packaging of their products; clean, crisp and medicinal, definitely my cup of tea! The ingredients include: green tea, rosehip oil, Acai fruit oil and tomato seed oil and the texture is pretty light and almost whipped so only a couple of pumps are needed for full coverage. When applied to my face alone, I noticed that my skin would tighten up a little, as if it needed something a bit more hydrating. I now use the lotion alongside a serum and it feels wonderfully moisturised and supple.
Mineral Radiance Mask (£19.50 || 60ml)
Clay based masks are amazing for oily skin tones as it draws out all the muck and oil and this product is no different. I do adore this mask if I’m being honest; I’ve used a LOTTA masks in my time and you can just tell when you are using one of quality. The mask is thick, smooth and very, very cooling while also giving the feeling that the product is actually doing it’s job. Ingredients include Rosehip oil, jojoba oil and pohutukawa oil, which helps tone and regenerate the skin. This mask comes with a little spatula for application and don’t let the small size fool you; you only need a minute amount for total coverage. I leave this on for 10-15 minutes and wipe off with cotton wool. The end result is that my skin feels really smooth and quite moisturising.
Gentle Facial Exfoliant (£21.50 || 75ml)
First i’d like to say that I’m glad that this product doesn’t contain any microbeads (for more on why you shouldn’t be using products that contain microbeads, please read here). This exfoliant contains jojoba wax spheres that gently exfoliate the face while providing moisture, along with more jojoba oil and you guessed it, rosehip oil! Honey and soybean oil are also added into the mix for added moisture. I don’t use the scrub every day as I sometimes find it a bit too oily for my liking; personally I’m someone who prefers bigger/rougher beads and like my scrubs to have somewhat of a grit to it – this product is a tad too creamy for my liking but would be awesome for someone wo had very dehydrated skin!
All in all, my skin has responded well to the above products which all have the same common denominator; Rosehip. My skin cannot get ENOUGH of the oil so it’s not surprising that I get on with Trilogy! Looks like I’m going to have to get stocking up on the oils soon!
Trilogy can be bought online or in Boots.
