Lip Geek | I Heart Makeup Review

I Love Makeup

I’m all about the lips this week as I have a natter about these nifty Lip Geek lipsticks from I Love Makeup by Makeup Revolution.
I’ll tell you something; I’ve kinda fallen a bit in love with Makeup Revolution – especially their lipsticks which are amazingly pigmented for their price, so I was really excited to try the new Lip Geek lipsticks from the I Love Makeup collection. The 24-piece strong line has an assortment of colours to please everyone. I was kindly given Barbie is Jealous, Candy Rock, Colour Diva and Colour Overdose.

The I Love Makeup line is slightly more expensive (we’re talking around a £1.50 or so) and you can see why; the casing is so much better than the main Makeup Revolution line. I’m really digging the shiny purple thing going on – it gives the lipstick a ‘luxe’ feel. It’s not only the casing that has improved though, the pigmentation of these babies are incredible! The texture gives a light, velvety finish and I find that it lasts a good 4+ hours or so until you need to reapply.

My favourite has to be Barbie is Jealous; it’s a gorgeous slightly blue-toned pink that I think would look amazing on all skin tones – especially those of an olive or pale colouring. It applies on opaque and gives a sheen finish.
Candy Rock is a pale dusty lilac colour that also has an opaque finish. I found this shade came off a little ‘chalky’ on me, which I’m assuming is down to my skin tone.
Colour Diva is a vibrant, tomato red with slight orange undertones and so would look gorgeous on those with warm undertones to the skin. This shade is by far the glossiest and most moisurising of the lot.
Colour Overdose is gorgeous. It’s a very good dupe of MAC’s Captive and is a warm, muted rose pink.
Although the colours are opaque, they are easily buildable from very subtle, to full on kah-blam mode like i’ve displayed in the swatches below. Not bad for £2.99, ey?
