What’s your weight loss inspiration?

For some, it may be sticking a ‘before’ photo of themselves with a motivational message on the fridge door, for others it could be purposely buying a dress 2 sizes smaller. I usually used to do the latter; I would buy loads of clothes a few sizes smaller which I THOUGHT would inspire me to lose weight – however they are still in the back of my wardrobe gathering dust and/or moths O_o.
I’ve been on a weight loss journey for about…5 years now and admittedly I find it extremely hard to lose weight – I take after my Father’s side of the family, where all the women are quite chubby so I know that when I do lose, I’m not going to be like 7 stone or anything!
I’ve tried all the diets – legit and fad- you can think of; Atkins, Dukan, LighterLife, Juicing, Waterfall Diet, 3 Day Diet, Fasting, Cambridge Diet etc but to no avail as most of these diets are VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) and the weight normally gets put on again after I’m done.
However about a couple of months ago, I came across a Tumblr page called www.before-and-after-pictures.tumblr.com where followers submit before and after photos of their weight loss. After browsing every single photo on the site, it really spurred me to lose weight in the natural and safe way of exercising and eating in moderation. The photos on the site are incredible and it just shows me that if they can do it, I can too!

  • I use My Fitness Pal to lose weight. Since joining several months ago I've lost a stone so far! It's all from counting your calories and setting your own goals. It's not about severely reducing your calories at all, because as you say, you'll only put it back on again!

  • Wow that's some inspiration right there, I must say I'm somehow blessed with good genes I have no probs losing weight but I'm a poor eater I have issues gaining. Used to be a Uk 14/16 but I did run&swim so past 4yrs I been a uk size 10 I do dancing classes once in a while lol

I follow that same tumblr and I love it. I think what I get from it most importantly is that I need to have PATIENCE because it takes TIME. It definitely is rather inspiring. So now I just focus on loving pushing my body while working out and just trying to do it the old fashioned way because with dedication, it works!

I won't lie though, I have a dress that I'm trying to get into and every time I think of taking it easy during my workout, when I think about it, I push a little harder lol

That website is really inspiring. What makes me keep going for it is a mixture of many things. Firstly, I have a good friend at work who is my gym buddy and we motivate each other. Secondly, I'm always trying on clothes that used to be tight and finding that they fit spurs me on to get things done. However, the ONE thing above all that has helped me lose weight is not restricting myself on any food. I know that if I say I can't have things, I will end up gorging on them. Thus, crisps, chocolate, junk food are all on the menu and I find myself not wanting them because I know how hard I work in the gym.

The girl on the bottom left looks like a different person in her after pic! I also tried that My Fitness Pal and it just freezes like hell on my phone so I've left it.

Spinning is brilliant for weight loss, I do one class a week and I'm dripping with sweat by the end of it and doing it in a class really helps the time go by quickly.

The last thing I will say is that music also helps you work harder and get through workouts faster.

  • I follow this on tumblr, very inspiring and shows that determination can get you far. I don't like to follow a lot of these weightloss tumblogs cos I find them to be quite unhealthy. xo

  • Wow those are amazing!I can't face taking a 'before' picture I actually hate looking in the mirror at myself.

I'll never go down to skinny either i just want to feel like me again 🙂
